After a successful Pre-Showcase Event held from 29th-31st January, where 60+ teams from 6 schools showcased their data artistically, the stage is set for the grand finale – the NetApp DE Program Grand Showcase. With over 500 students actively participating in Pre-Showcase and learning about the power of data through enriching sessions, the program has become a beacon of STEAM education, 6 groups from these schools are randomly selected to present their data and research in the Grand Showcase Event, emphasizing the integration of technical knowledge with artistic expression.
Overview
The schools involved in the program included Parikrama School, Christel House, Sri Sai Prashanthi Balamandira School, Swami Vivekananda Vidya Kendra, Henk Bruna Swamy Vivekananda, and Divine Mercy School, have all played a vital role in shaping the success of the NetApp DE Program. Through weeks of intensive training, students have delved into data science principles and applied their learnings to address pressing issues in their communities, such as suicide, mental health, school dropout rates, and student-to-teacher ratios.
Transformation of STEM to STEAM:
The NetApp DE Program Showcase Event in Bengaluru showcased a remarkable convergence of creativity and data-driven insights. Teams from all six schools transformed STEM into STEAM, infusing their data presentations with artistic elements such as storytelling and skits. This fusion of analytical prowess and artistic expression highlighted the multifaceted nature of the program, demonstrating how data can be harnessed to create impactful narratives and drive social change.
Teacher Training and Collaboration:
Notably, teachers from each school were also trained in data science practices under the India STEM Foundation’s Teacher Training Program. This collaborative effort ensures that educators are equipped with the necessary skills to support students in their data exploration journey, further amplifying the program’s impact on the educational ecosystem.
Upcoming Grand Showcase:
The much-anticipated Grand Showcase is scheduled to take place on February 9th, 2024, at the NetApp office in Bengaluru. While all 60 teams and 500 students are winners in their own right, six groups have been randomly selected to present their data in front of esteemed employees and dignitaries from NetApp. This event will showcase how the NetApp DE Program has empowered students to address global issues and find innovative solutions.
Collaborators and Supporters:
The success of the NetApp DE Program would not have been possible without the collaboration of India STEM Foundation for the fourth consecutive year. Additionally, organizations such as Teach For India and Slam Out Loud have lent their support, contributing to the program’s success and impact.
