Rockwell Automation Brings STEAM Awareness to Life

STEAM awareness helps students connect classroom learning with real-world ideas. On 7 August 2026, Rockwell Automation and RASWE (Rockwell Automation Society of Women Engineers) India organised “Wow! That’s Engineering!” in Pune.

The event introduced students to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. It used robotics, demonstrations, and hands-on activities to make learning more engaging.

STEAM Awareness Through Hands-On Learning

The STEAM awareness event gave students a chance to explore engineering in a practical way. They took part in discussions, demonstrations, and activities led by STEM professionals.

Priyanka Bhosale and Snehal Shinde from India STEM Foundation conducted the STEM awareness activities. They worked with Rockwell Automation volunteers throughout the session.

Together, they encouraged students to ask questions and explore new ideas. The activities also helped students understand how technology can solve everyday problems.

Exploring Robotics and Innovation

Robotics was another key part of the event. Three teams supported by Rockwell Automation in Pune showcased their WRO India 2026 projects.

The young innovators explained their ideas and demonstrated their working projects. They also shared the problems their solutions aimed to address.

As a result, the students attending the event got to see robotics in action. They could also interact with young innovators and learn from their experiences.

This gave students a closer look at engineering, robotics, and problem-solving.

Building an Automatic Night Lamp

The hands-on activity gave students the chance to build a working project themselves.

Students learned the basics of Arduino programming, IR sensors, and automation. With support from STEM trainers and Rockwell Automation volunteers, they built an automatic night lamp.

First, the students assembled the circuit. Next, they connected the IR sensor and LED. Then, they programmed the Arduino to control the lamp.

This simple project helped students understand how sensors and programming work together. More importantly, they learned by testing and solving problems themselves.

Learning Through Experimentation

Hands-on learning encourages students to explore instead of simply following instructions.

During the activity, students asked questions and tested their ideas. They also worked through problems when something did not work as expected.
