Preparing for a robotics competition goes beyond building a working prototype. It requires critical thinking, technical refinement, confident communication, and the ability to solve problems under pressure. To support students on this journey, volunteers from Rockwell Automation conducted two dedicated mentoring sessions for teams participating in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) India.
Held on 16 July and 20 July 2026, the virtual mentoring sessions connected industry professionals with young innovators, providing valuable feedback that will help students strengthen their projects before the next stages of the competition.
Industry Experts Guide Future Innovators
The first mentoring session was conducted online on 16 July 2026 for students from Huzurpaga Girls’ English Medium School, Pune.
During the session, students confidently presented nearly sixty percent of their working prototype along with their project presentation, speech, and live demonstration. The volunteers carefully reviewed every aspect of the project, asking thoughtful questions to understand the team’s approach, innovation, and technical implementation.
The session encouraged students to think beyond their existing solutions while refining both the technical quality of their prototype and the effectiveness of their presentation.
Students Receive Valuable Technical Feedback
A second mentoring session was organised on 20 July 2026 for WRO India teams from Vishwakarma Vidyalaya English Medium School, Pune.
Two student teams presented their innovative solutions.
The Great Indian Heritage project showcased how robotics and interactive technology can celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage through engaging learning experiences.
The KripaBot team demonstrated an automation-based robotic solution designed to assist with everyday activities using practical engineering concepts.
Rockwell Automation volunteers provided constructive technical suggestions, presentation guidance, and practical recommendations to strengthen both projects before the upcoming competition.
Building Confidence Beyond Robotics
One of the most valuable aspects of these mentoring sessions was the opportunity for students to interact directly with professionals working in the technology industry.
Beyond technical improvements, students learned how to communicate ideas clearly, respond confidently to questions, and present innovative solutions with greater clarity. Such interactions bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world engineering practices, giving students a better understanding of how innovation is developed in professional environments.
