Over 42 Student Teams Showcase Innovation at Ford Office in Chennai

Chennai, 2 March 2026: Innovation met industry as more than 42 student teams from two Government Higher Secondary Schools – Thuraipakkam and Pallikarnai – presented their projects at a special showcase event hosted at the Ford office in Chennai.

The event provided students with a rare opportunity to step into a global corporate environment and present their ideas to industry professionals. The showcase reflected months of hands-on STEM learning, experimentation, and collaborative problem-solving.

Students Present Ideas to 1,000 Ford Employees

What made the event particularly impactful was the scale of engagement. Around 1,000 employees from the Ford team participated in the showcase, actively interacting with students, asking questions about their projects, and encouraging them to think critically about real-world applications.

For the students, presenting in front of such a large professional audience was both exciting and transformative. The experience strengthened their communication skills, boosted their confidence, and helped them understand how classroom learning connects with industry innovation.

Leadership Presence Inspires Young Innovators

The event was graced by Gangapriya Chakraverti, Managing Director of Ford Motor Company, along with other senior leaders from the organisation.

Their presence underscored the importance of nurturing young talent and encouraging innovation at the grassroots level. By engaging directly with students, the leadership team demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering education-industry collaboration.

Students had the opportunity to explain the thought process behind their models, the challenges they faced during development, and the potential applications of their ideas. Interactions with senior leaders provided them with valuable feedback and fresh perspectives on improving their solutions.

Bridging Classrooms and Corporate India

The showcase served as a bridge between government schools and the corporate world, exposing students to professional environments that many had not previously experienced. Walking into a global company’s office and presenting to its workforce was a powerful moment — one that expanded aspirations and possibilities.

Such initiatives highlight the role of structured STEM education in preparing students not just academically, but holistically. Beyond technical knowledge, the event reinforced critical thinking, teamwork, articulation, and confidence — skills essential for future careers.

A Step Toward Future-Ready Learning

By hosting the showcase within its office premises, Ford created a meaningful platform for students to witness how innovation functions in real-world corporate settings. The interaction between employees and students fostered mutual learning — employees gained insight into young, creative problem-solvers, while students gained exposure to industry expectations and professional standards.

The event stood as a testament to the impact of collaborative efforts in strengthening STEM education and encouraging young minds to pursue innovation with confidence.

As the day concluded, one outcome was clear: when industry opens its doors to students, it not only inspires the next generation but also reinforces the shared responsibility of building a future-ready workforce.
